Gain the knowledge to understand your dogs behavior and psychological needs.
Why did you get a dog?
I'm sure your answer isn't because you wanted to increase your anxiety and be concerned for your safety or others. Or to have a dog who lounges and snaps at people or other animals at the end of the leash. It most definitely isn't because you wanted to have two dogs in the same house fighting.
You got a dog because you had a vision for them to serve a purpose in your life. Whether that be a hiking buddy you could run off leash with, or a companion who adds comfort and peace to your life, or even a protector for your family. What ever the reason, every one of these dogs need a strong leader to be successful in their purpose so you can live in harmony with you dog and not in constant chaos.
Mindful Mutts is here to help and support you in accomplishing a peaceful life and have a happier and fulfilled dog who looks to you for direction.
Basic Board and Train
The Basic Board and Train program is recommended to owners who find it challenging to dedicate enough time to train their dogs themselves or who are not educated enough to get their dog to the point where they can better manage behaviors at home. Your dog will stay with me in my home for an extended period of time, typically between 2-4 weeks depending on you and the dogs needs. During their stay, I work intensively with your dog to address specific behavioral issues and reinforce positive habits through rules boundaries and limitations.
I address behaviors including but not limited to leash reactivity, over excitement, jumping, barking, bolting, not listening or simply a lack of obedience training.
We will discuss if the basic board and train is right for your dog at your Evaluation.
***Basic board and trains are designed for dogs who do not have a history of severe behavioral problems***
Reactive Dog Board and Train
Reactive Dog Board and Trains are specifically for dogs with more severe reactiveness and or aggression. These behaviors can be rooted from fear, trauma or dominance. Your dog will stay with me in my home between 3-6 weeks depending on you and the dogs needs. During their stay, I focus the triggers that are causing their specific behavioral issues and begin the rehabilitation. My process is to work at a pace the dog can consistently be successful yet also challenging them to grow and learn. Dependent on multiple factors, I include between 1-3 lessons per week with the owner in order for them to become educated about their dogs behavior and how to navigate through possible challenges. This is where you will see the changes in the long run even after the board and train is complete. This type of program is recommended to owners who have become overwhelmed with their dogs behavior with continuous failed attempts at fixing the problem on their own.
I address behaviors including but not limited to aggression, reactivity, separation anxiety and extreme fear.
Intensive Training
One of the primary advantages of my Board and Train program is the necessary commitment your dog receives to make fast progress in a short amount of time. My job is to dedicate several hours each day to work on your dog's behavioral challenges, which leads to more effective results. The intensive training doesn't stop with your dog, I also focus on training you and give you the knowledge to continue the training at home during their stay with me.
Professional Expertise
Through educating myself for over 15 years working with hundreds of dogs I've become highly experienced dealing with a wide range of behavioral issues. I structure each board and train to fit the unique needs of your dog, ensuring a more successful outcome. Its not a one size fits all approach.
Consistent Routine
Dogs thrive on routine and consistency. In a board and train setting, I can maintain a consistent schedule and environment, which helps reinforce desired behaviors more effectively than sporadic training sessions at home. I don't leave much room for a dog to fail due to the way my programs are structured.
